Equal Futures: Rewriting the Rules of Work
- Summary
- Fact Sheet
- Project Details
This learning project addressed persistent gender inequalities in the workplace by combining philosophical reflection, rights-based analysis, and interactive civic education. Co-developed with DiversityNow Consulting, the initiative empowered students and young professionals to engage with gender bias, advocate for inclusive practices, and promote dignity at work.
Focusing on SDGs 5 (Gender Equality), 8 (Decent Work), 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and 4 (Quality Education), the project delivered a workshop series titled Equal Futures, a role-play simulation, an interactive public exhibition, and a bilingual resource guide for inclusive workplace practices.
Challenge
Despite policy frameworks, gender discrimination remains prevalent in Greek workplaces, often in subtle or systemic forms. This project aimed to raise awareness, challenge cultural norms, and equip young people with tools to foster workplace equality.
Target Groups:
The project reached university students, early-career professionals, and HR staff from local organisations. Participants ranged from age 20 to 35, reflecting a mix of future workers and current workplace actors.
Solution
Through participatory workshops, role-play, public storytelling, and an interactive exhibit, the students created safe spaces for dialogue and reflection. They developed practical tools and facilitated experiences that moved beyond theory into awareness and action.
Innovation
The project integrated legal insight, personal narrative, and experiential learning. It introduced creative formats like a “Bias Map,” anonymous testimonies, and a “Rewrite the Policy” station, engaging audiences emotionally and critically.
Impact
More than 20 participants took part in the workshops, and the public exhibition attracted additional visitors. The bilingual guide is being distributed to employers and NGOs. Several participants expressed interest in forming follow-up initiatives in their workplaces.
