Teresa has a PhD in Biology (Botany), and is an expert in seaweeds. She is a senior professor and teaches marine botany and cell biology to the bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology, Natural Capital and Ecosystem Services to the masters degree in Blue and Circular Economy and Biotechnology of Marine Environment to the master’s degree in Biotechnology of Marine Resources. She is an experienced researcher on the laboratory cultivation of seaweeds, manipulating environmental conditions to optimize yield, chemical profile and bioactivities. She is a researcher of MARE – Marine and Environmental Sciences Centre and of S2AQUAcoLAB, Collaborative Laboratory for Sustainable and Intelligent Aquaculture. She has been involved in EU-projects and national projects in the areas of seaweeds ecology, biotechnology and applications in the Blue Sector, besides project in entrepreneurship and capacity building improvement.
