- Project Details
Sustain-a-Wave is a travelling festival promoting sustainability in water sports. It combines workshops, exhibitions, and networking events to raise awareness and encourage eco-friendly practices among clubs and companies.
Challenge
Sustainability is still underrepresented in water sports. The project tackles environmental issues (SDG 13 – Climate Action, SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption) and supports education and awareness in sports communities.
Target Groups:
Water sports clubs and their members, local communities, environmental startups, sponsors, and the broader public interested in sustainable recreational practices.
Solution
An annual festival that travels to water sports venues, providing education, visibility, and networking on sustainable practices through talks, repair cafés, and workshops directly engaging clubs and enterprises.
Innovation
The festival format combines environmental education with active community engagement in a mobile, decentralised way. It brings sustainability discourse directly into the leisure and sports sector.
Impact
Raises environmental awareness, encourages green investments, and fosters behavioural change in sports. It connects stakeholders and motivates clubs to adopt sustainable practices across Europe.
